Design Concept 2

The council's heritage has a strong focus on nature, my concept design part 2 will be a nature based interior design. The idea to is to bring the outdoors in indoors and combine the elements of nature with the technology of the QR in a creative interactive environment.   

I looked at green astroturf carpet and chairs as an interior feature. Refer to post mood board. Once placing the visual image's together the chairs, the floor plan, it appeared uncomfortable and inclosed. I researched more into how I could still use this as a feature creating space and comfort. 

Bingo! 

I found an amazing design solution astroturf walls; 

  

A wonderland space, that creates intrigue with directional space! This feature would be a great design solution.

QR code

QR code (abbreviated from Quick Response Code) is the trademark for a type of matrix barcode (or two-dimensional barcode) first designed for the automotive industry in Japan. A barcode is an optically machine-readable label that is attached to an item and that records information related to that item. The information encoded by a QR code may be made up of four standardized types ("modes") of data (numeric, alphanumeric, byte / binary, kanji) or, through supported extensions, virtually any type of data.^[1]

The QR Code system has become popular outside the automotive industry due to its fast readability and greater storage capacity compared to standard UPC barcodes. Applications include product tracking, item identification, time tracking, document management, general marketing, and much more.^[2]

A QR code consists of black modules (square dots) arranged in a square grid on a white background, which can be read by an imaging device (such as a camera) and processed using Reed–Solomon error correction until the image can be appropriately interpreted; data is then extracted from patterns present in both horizontal and vertical components of the image.^[2]

QR codes are a really neat way to get information to people quickly.  

Most people have seen the square, barcode looking image before, however may not know how to use them! For this technology to be a social media 

success, it needs to find away to let people know "how to use them." It's also so very easy to do so, once you know how.

I have generated my own QR code, to access it's information upload the free Quick Scan app onto your phone, if you don't already have one! :) 

Once scanned, this Quick Response code takes you straight to my URL page, which allows you to access my page quickly without having to type out my URL into the search engine. 

Pretty neat! 

Week 2, Graphic Design Trends

My approach to research task 2, graphic design trends, was firstly to discover what the currently corporate marketing trends are? 
Marketing pin points the direction in which, we the consumers are going. ie. The post-PC era!! What trends are major organizations heavily investing in?
This is important, for it shows us exactly what trends are in favor. The marketing research below, focus is primarily targeting technology development and the social media.

Tea Tree Gully's stormwater reuse strategies

Week 1 Background

My local council area that I'll be conducting my weekly research on, will be Tea Tree Gully council. Though web research, I identified that Tea Tree Gully Council is comparatively large, providing a wide range of events and programs. 
The web site is easily accessible supplying all relevant information about who they are, what they provide and how to contact them.

The City of Tea Tree Gully recognises this City's considerable natural and cultural heritage, including thousands of years of traditional ownership by the Kaurna people and the more recent contributions from all who live here. We build on this heritage today by respecting and listening to each other, being receptive to new ideas and acting wisely for the current and future well-being of our community. 

Overall Tea Tree Gully has a long and interesting history, the currently council provides updated useful information with a well established city centre. They are considerable graphic design features, including an art gallery and theatre.
